What began as a small afternoon therapeutic riding centre has grown into a franchise model helping children across South Africa through equine-assisted therapy.
Eugenie Bands started Horse Worx in 2003 as a small afternoon therapeutic horse-riding centre. What grew from that was a passion turned into a business: helping children develop through the aid of a horse.
That passion for horses — and for children’s development — became a franchise model built around two things: mobile and after-hours equine therapy sessions, and structured programmes for schools. Every Horse Worx owner shares the same commitment: helping children with early learning development, supported by a trained therapeutic team.
Today, Horse Worx operates through independently owned centres, each led by a franchisee who brings their own therapists, horses and local relationships to the model — while sharing the same therapeutic approach and standards across every centre.
Horse Worx currently has two active franchise centres:

Every centre works with therapists trained in equine-assisted, sensory-integration approaches to children’s development.
Structured sessions, supervised horses, and clear indemnity and safety processes — because working with horses is a real physical activity that we take seriously.
Every programme, from after-school therapy to school partnerships, is designed around what helps a child learn and grow.
